I suppose the short answer is: Save the Earth, Save Ourselves!
Even if all you grow are flowers and a lawn and never plan to be a vegetable gardener or farmer, you can achieve better results and support the values expressed above.
You will, in time, discover that you are getting higher yields in your crops, much better tasting, nutricious food and healthier plants by growing organically. By healthier, I mean less disease, fungus and insect predation. The plants you grow will be better at surviving environmental stresses like heat and cold, moisture extremes, insect predation and more. The food you grow will be more nutritious as well, and the good feeling you get knowing that the food you are eating and feeding to others is wholesome and free of harsh chemicals and toxins, is good for the body, mind and soul. By engaging in sound organic practices when messing around in the dirt and buying locally grown food, you are protecting the environment, promoting stewardship of natural resources, increasing local food production and supporting sustainable rural communities - by illuminating for everyone you meet, the connections between healthful food, environmentally sound farming practices, vital local communities and, you'll having fun while doing it!
Ever see some one frown when they eat an apple?
Links for Free Information By not adding toxins to the soil and not giving money to corporations who invest in technologies like genetic engineering, pesticides, war in the middle east, herbicides and harsh chemicals (made primarily from oil) that kill the life in the soil, you are doing your part to make the world a better place in which we all can live, and providing a safe future for the generations to come.
