Heirloom 18-24" Tender Annual

The archetypical bell pepper, tender, sweet and juicy, without a trace of pungency. Smooth and glossy, dark green, it ripens to a bright crimson. Large, blocky, 3-4 lobed fruit has thick (up to 3/8 inch) walls. Introduced in 1928. Vigorous, upright plant provides good cover. Sow seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last spring frost. Transplant when soils are warm, spacing seedlings 12-18 inches apart. Enrich soil with mature compost. Needs warm conditions day and night to germinate and fruit well.

A favorite sweet pimiento with thick, juicy walls. Marvelous for fresh eating, this plant produces clusters of peppers, 8-10 per plant. 3 x 2.5 in. fruits are oval, with ridges, similar to a pumpkin's shape. (85 days)

HEIRLOOM This highly attractive Italian variety was extremely popular in our 2006 taste tests. Tapering fruits are 8-10” long and thin, often with a slight “bull horn” curve, deep crimson red color when fully ripe. Plants are very vigorous with an excellent upright habit.

Thick-fleshed fruit matures to a deep orange color with exceedingly sweet flavor. Provides excellent contrast when placed on a market shelf next to red and purple varieties. Sturdy, upright 22-30” plants are everbearing and pendant.
