Amaranth - Elephant Head
Bright red pendulant spikes have much the texture of the finest chenille. Blooms over a long window, making stunning cut flowers or a magnificent border. 3-5’ tall
Large, striking heirloom. Large blunt red spikes have soft texture. Spikes resemble erect elephant trunks. Makes a stunning cut, dried flower, or show-off bedding plant. Plants reach 3-5'. 90 days
Bells of Ireland Moluccella laevis 2-3 ft.
Tender Annual/Reseeding. This aromatic, old-fashioned, showy garden flower from the mint family has long stems covered with green, soft, bell-like blooms. Adds contrast in the garden and produces a captivating cut or dried flower. Refrigerate seed for a week prior to planting. Sow 1 seed per inch directly into soil as soon as ground can be worked in the spring. Light is necessary for germination. Tamp seeds in prepared garden soil. Prefers cooler climates. During germination, keep entire seedbed evenly moist.

Celosia - Cockscomb Mix
These dramatic flowers are cut fresh or dried to make beautiful arrangements. Direct seed 1/2" deep and thin to a 6" spacing, when soil is warmed. Can also be started as transplants 8-10 weeks before planting date, sensitive to root stress.

Flasback Mix Calendula

Classic Calendula-Calendula officinalis 18-24 in. Traditional/Medicinal
A cheery garden companion, these lovely orange/yellow flowers bloom profusely from spring until frost. They have been used in medicinal salves for centuries. Edible flowers add color to salads and make a great cake decoration.
Easiest to direct seed when danger of frost has passed. Germinates best in cool, moist weather. For earlier flowers, start plants indoors 4-6 weeks before the last frost and transplant when danger of frost has passed. Pick flowers at peak of bloom. Cut off dead flowers for continuous blooming.

Resin Calendula Calendula officinalis
Bright yellow daisy-like blooms with a few orange show-offs to keep the genetic variation of this powerful strain alive and well. Resina flowers are most commonly noted for their medicinal properties. This strain has the highest amount of resins which are used as an herbal application for inflammation and localized skin problems. Also used as a dye for food or fabric and as an edible flower. Color tends to fade in summer heat. All calendulas will reseed themselves for early spring blooms if the flower heads are left in garden. Days to maturity: 80 days. 1/32 ounce
California Orange Poppy
Simple, silky orange flowers accented by wispy blue-green foliage do best in full sun. Prolific blooms are very attractive in flower beds or naturalized in fields. As California’s state flower, these beauties really love the sun. Direct seed early spring or in fall for earlier blooms. Sow seeds 1/4" and thin to a final spacingof 8-10"

Hardy Perennial/Hardy Biennial
A true perennial that is generally grown as an annual or biennial. Brilliant, papery 3 in. blooms in bright yellow, orange, and white have a sweet fragrance. Can be used in arrangements if cut just before opening. Sow thinly over a broad area for a stunning display.

Showy flowers are a single whorl of soft white petals edged with bright rosy pinks. A multitude of blooms starts in mid-summer continuing on throughout the fall. Its feathery foliage fills the plants from bottom to top creating a bushy look. Grows well in all types of soil but needs full sun for best results. Jasmine Scented Nicotiana
Easily one of the sweetest-scented flowers, but offering its intense aromas to the night, as it is pollinated by moths. Lovely, pendulant white flowers on 3-4 ft. plants. Very easy to grow.

Purple Coneflower - Echinacea purpurea 2-3 ft.
The easiest of the Echinaceas to grow, the rose-purple, daisy-like flowers have burnt orange centers. Blooms from July to September and makes a long-lasting cut flower. As a medicinal, it is said to stimulate growth of blood cells and enhance the immune system. 2-3 ft. plant with 3 in. flowers. Perennial.

Salvia - Marble Arch
Unusual 2-2 1/2 ft ornamental whose upper flora bracts display gorgeous flags of color in intense deep purple, indigo-blue, rose pink, and white. Bracts, being leaves and not petals, will remain colorful all summer and well into fall. Salvia will perform best if grown in well-drained soil above 65°F. Will tolerate part shade and poor soils. Direct seed by scattering seeds on soil surface, gently rake seeds in, later thin to 12-18". Be careful not to deeply bury seed. Can be started as transplants 6-8 weeks before planting date.
Ornamental mix with gorgeous bracts of deep purple, indigo-blue, rose pink, and white. Plants reach 24-30" with bushy habit. Blooms last all summer into fall. Works well in containers! 80 days
Sweet Willaim - Volcano
Perfect for cut flowers. Can be picked when 10-20% of clusters are open. Seed does not require vernalization. Sow seeds indoors 4 weeks before last frost or sow outside after danger of frost is past. Often found in wildflower mixes.
Hardy Biennial Red, white, pink, purple and bicolor flowers make a stunning mix. Average height is 18-24". Excellent cut flower fresh or dried. Most likely will not bloom till second year. 120 days
Autumn Beauty Sunflowers
A favorite for everyone in this mix. Explosions of vibrant 4-6" flowers ranging from yellow, bronze, and red shades with lots of bicolors, growing about 7 feet tall. Good bird food selection.

Sunflower - Evening Sun helianthus annuus 6-10 ft. Tender Annual
A magnificent variety of deep maroon flowers reminiscent of the setting sun. Predominantly all maroon flowers with the color deepening toward the center. Variations include pale cream edging at the tips or hints of cream edging the centers. Plant stalks and leaf venation are also maroon, accenting the richly colored 4-6 inch flowers (100 days)

Gloriosa Polyheaded Sunflower Helianthus annuus Rare 6-10 ft. Tender Annual/Reseeding
Stunning in bouquets, these eye-catching polyheaded flowers are single- petalled. Each plant is 6-8 ft. tall, producing from 10-40 branches with 4-6 in. flowers. Some are straw yellow, some are brilliant orange, but primarily they are orange and yellow with red markings on each petal, making red circles, thus resembling the Gloriosa Daisy. Annual. Jerusalem Lemon Gold Sunflowers
Full sprays of distinctive, lemony 4-6" flowers on multi-branched plants. Several growers gave this hybrid the highest rating for marketability, productivity, and long vase-life. 4-5’ tall. Best direct seeded but can also be transplanted.

Mexican Sunflower Tithonia rotundifolia 6-8 ft. Tender Annual/Reseeding
Vibrant, easy-to-grow bush with 2-4 in. with dozens of intense orange blooms through the fall and velvety foliage. Produces long-stemmed side shoots. Makes a really nice privacy hedge during the growing season. Beautiful mixed with zinnias or other sunflowers. Best direct seeded.

Dark velvety crimson blooms are accented with traces of yellow around a black center on this sunflower.
