We now offer two types of Low Emission Firewood For Sale
Compressed Sawdust Bricks and Compressed Sawdust Firelogs are both made from reclaimed-compressed wood waste from sawmills and manufacturing shops - kiln dried sawdust. For as long as people have walked the earth, fire has been a part of our culture. Whether it's the tribal fire of deliberation, fires for cooking, for warmth, for safety and fires for celebration, we all have a primal draw towards fire that remains with us to this day. Unfortunately, there are so many of us living on the earth today the fires we all love so much are killing us. They threaten the environment and could jeopardise our future here on earth. Wood Smoke is a big contributing factor to air pollution and is by far the most compelling argument against wood heat. There are places, mainly communities in sheltered mountain valleys and streets in urban and suburban areas, where, when the locals fire up their stoves and fireplaces during a cold snap the smoke gets so thick you can't see across the street or the valley even. A frigid, stagnant air mass can trap the smoke close to the ground. It smells terrible, affects everybody adversely and makes some people really sick.
So, we have to do something. Conservation, yes, everyone can and must do this. It's the lowest hanging fruit and costs little or nothing. We still have to heat our homes, cook our food and we all still want to have fun. In that light, we offer the following wood heating products that burn clean, produce little smoke or ash and because of their low moisture content, produce little or no creosote build up in chimneys and their density is such that the equivalent BTU content of these products takes up half the space of conventional cord wood. Not only that, each log or brick is the same so you get consistent, predictable heat based on how much wood you put in the fire. These products contain no bugs, bark or debris to mess up the place. They can be used in all manner of equipment made for burning wood from out door grills to indoor wood stoves and fire places. We use them in our out door fire pit and thoroughly enjoy our evenings around the fire without being chased around by a smokie fire and coming in the house stinking like smoke half choked to death. If you go to out door gatherings where fires are prevalent you can seriously reduce the pollution in the parking lot or camp ground by using these products. You'll get the maximum benefit from them when used in a modern, well maintained wood stove however, and I highly recommend trading in any old, non-air tight or damaged stove you may presently use. They are unsafe and pollute the air we all breathe including the air inside your home. In the long run you'll save a lot of money too by not having to buy so much wood. It will be better for your back too! Cutting and stacking wood and bringing it into the house is very hard work. For more information about each product, click the appropriate links in the table. You can buy directly from this page or go to the individual pages for more information and buy the product there. |
