| The apple maggot, cherry fruit fly and blueberry maggot fly are all attracted to this trap's shape and the specific wavelength of red. (No pheromone lure needed.) Sticky coating captures insects. Plastic snap together construction gives long service life. Use for orchard monitoring or small scale home orchard mass trapping. These are simple, nontoxic and effective in keeping the bugs off of your fruit.
Coat each sphere with tanglefoot and hang on the tree branches. Hang one trap per 100 apples. About five is required for mature, well maintained apple trees. Traps should be hung by July 1. When an insect lands on the sticky sphere, it becomes trapped and dies. Check traps periodically. Traps become ineffective when they are covered with insects and/or debris. Clean off the spheres and reapply the glue as needed. Removing the glue can be challenging. Use vegetable oil for the best results.
